PROVOST AND VICE PRESIDENT OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

 

Lawrence Technological University (LTU) announces a nationwide search to recruit a new Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Provost is the chief academic officer of the University and is responsible for the effective administration of the institution’s academic programs.

 

Founded in 1932 as a private institution with the vision ‘to be recognized for transformative STEM and Design education that develops leaders with an entrepreneurial mindset and global perspective. LTU is one of only 13 private, technological, doctoral universities in the U.S. We produce technologically savvy graduates no matter what degree they attain or discipline they pursue. We are the creative University of the future that prepares students for the 21st Century interdisciplinary careers and job titles that may not even exist yet and our Provost must be an innovator and champion of technology and technological education. In addition, our new Provost must have demonstrated a strong business and financial acumen in the area of operational efficiencies and budget management. Lawrence Tech today enrolls about 3,500 students, employs 500 faculty and staff, and has an annual operating budget of approximately $80 million. LTU is located on a beautiful and modern campus in Southfield, Michigan.

 

Reporting directly to the President, the Provost has primary responsibility for a broad array of offices and services, including four Colleges, the Library, and over 100 academic programs and departments. In addition, the Provost’s office is responsible for Student Affairs, e-Learning services, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and the Marburger STEM Center. The Provost and Provost’s staff facilitate the operations of these and other offices and services to effectively support the academic mission of the University.

 

The successful candidate will possess a doctoral or terminal degree in their academic discipline and will have demonstrated achievement in teaching and scholarship meriting appointment as a tenured professor in a discipline offered at the University. He or she will also have a proven record of leadership, collaboration, and higher education experience at the Dean, Associate/Vice Provost, Vice President or Provost level.

 

The search committee seeks a proven scholar and accomplished administrator who values teaching and research and has a collegial and consensus-building leadership style. The selected individual will be student-centered, strategic and visionary, and will possess unquestioned integrity and exemplary communication and interpersonal skills. The Provost will be committed to diversity and inclusion and will participate fully in the everyday life of the University.
