PRESIDENT

The Board of Directors of the Texas International Education Consortium invites applications and nominations for the position of President.

For 31 years, the Texas International Education Consortium has been calling upon the expertise and knowledge of more than 25,000 faculty and administrators from Texas universities in providing services to the global educational community. Affiliated universities include not only programs that are world-famous for their academics and scholarship, but numerous specialized research centers and institutes, extension and technical training programs, and public policy and service units. Each of these resources lends its support and expertise through active participation in TIEC projects.

Located in Austin, Texas, the independent, non-profit corporation TIEC occupies a multi-purpose headquarters facility including both its institutional services programs and its study and training programs. TIEC headquarters is home to offices and classrooms of The Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP), a division of TIEC that provides English as a second language instruction to international students from around the globe.

TIEC is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of the presidents of its participating universities. These universities include members of the Association of American Universities, the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges, and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. All are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Few American organizations provide the breadth and depth or access to expertise that can match TIEC capabilities. TIEC delivers a full range of services to both the global educational community and Texas higher education across three core components: service programs for its participating universities, institutional service programs for universities overseas, and English-as-a-second-language programs for international students, educators and other professionals.

The successful candidate for this position will have outstanding administrative and management skills with a demonstrated record of success in a large and multifaceted organization.  The successful candidate will be an able and experienced manager and leader capable of motivating diverse teams of employees with the skills and talent to develop and execute plans to enhance TIEC’s international endeavors and to manage change within a complex environment.  Additionally, they will have the ability to bring new, forward-looking ideas to the table, capacity to initiate and coordinate related projects and the willingness to be accountable for transformational results. Candidates who have an earned doctorate or other terminal degree and a record of scholarly achievement are strongly encouraged to apply. Additionally, candidates from non-academic environments with significant international engagement and leadership experience are also encouraged to apply.

Greenwood/Asher & Associates, an executive search firm, is assisting the TIEC in the search.  Applications and nominations are now being accepted. Screening of applications will continue until an appointment is made and applications are encouraged to be submitted by April 15, 2017. Application materials should include a letter addressing how the candidate’s experience and skills match the position requirements and a résumé or CV.  Individuals wishing to nominate a candidate should include the name, position, address and telephone number of the nominee.
