Carnegie Mellon (www.cmu.edu) invites nominations and applications for the Director, Campus Services. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Facilities Management and Campus Services (FMCS), the Director will be responsible for logistics and retail operations including Copy Centers, Parking & Transportation Services, Postal Services, Printing & Mailing Services, and University Stores.

Campus Services is a well-run set of operations and services whose new leader has the opportunity to continue to develop the organization and its services in order to increase its impact on the University’s mission through innovations in finances, technologies, planning, resource development, and branding. The Director manages an aggregate budget of approximately $20M per year and a total staff complement (full-time, part-time, and student) of approximately 60.

We are looking for someone who possesses a record of success in leading while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and service excellence.  You will demonstrate strong analytical, financial, organizational and supervisory skills, be self-sufficient in strategic planning, and exhibit the ability to plan and implement multiple complex projects simultaneously. Your career should reveal successful external engagement and proven ability to build alliances with other campus units; strong commitment to providing effective customer service; excellent interpersonal skills encompassing the ability to work collegially as a member of a team; strong analytical and organizational skills; and, excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong consultative, collaborative and mediation skills.

You must have a Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field of study (Master’s preferred), must demonstrate significant experience managing human and financial resources in an auxiliary services operations context, and must have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience including at least five years of experience supervising professional staff. Experience leading university parking, a university store, or similar retail operation with knowledge of current industry developments and trends, and point-of-sale systems, is preferred, as is a relevant professional certification such as CASP.
