President

The Board of Trustees announces the search for the next president of Fisher College and invites applications and nominations for this distinctive leadership opportunity. The new president will inherit a creative, independent college poised to build on the current momentum of the successful decade-long leadership of President Thomas McGovern who has announced he will complete his tenure on June 30, 2017.

While underscoring Fisher College’s core values, existing accomplishments and emerging initiatives, Fisher seeks a dynamic, innovative and creative leader to implement an energizing vision and strategic plan for strengthening academic standing, financial health and reputation.

With a history going back to 1903, Fisher College boasts a richly diverse enrollment of 1,552 FTE students of which 792 attend day classes full time on its historic, brownstone campus, located in the vibrant Back Bay, nestled between the beautiful Boston Common, the Public Garden and the Charles River.

At a time of unprecedented change in higher education, Fisher draws confidence from the combination of its recent successes and the promise of new ventures. The expansion of graduate and undergraduate degrees and the continuing development of on-line credit bearing offerings as well as continuing education and corporate development programs are in various stages of development. The new president is expected to bring ingenuity, vision, decisiveness and boldness to Fisher’s presidency.

The agenda for the new president includes:

•  Articulating a shared, compelling vision for the College’s future.

•  Continuing the decade-long growth of enrollment through expanded programs.

• Maintaining and enhancing the financial equilibrium, building on 14 consecutive years of balanced operations.

•  Developing a sophisticated advancement program.

•  Demonstrating a committed, intercultural competence.

An awareness of the challenges facing higher education and the confidence and ability to meet these challenges define the expectations for Fisher’s next president, which also include high energy, approachability, and the willingness to make difficult decisions.
