Vice President for Communications and Marketing

DePauw University invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Communications and Marketing. This cabinet level position will report directly to the President and serve as the University's chief communications and marketing officer and steward of the University's brand. Key responsibilities will include elevating and enhancing DePauw's national reputation and awareness through the development of a comprehensive marketing strategy, the direction of all communications, both routine and crisis-related, and the management of advertising activities.

DePauw is a nationally recognized, leading residential liberal arts college and school of music located 45 minutes from Indianapolis in Greencastle, Indiana (population 10,000). DePauw is dedicated to educating students from across the country and around the globe within a diverse and inclusive environment. The Vice President for Communications and Marketing provides leadership and works in close partnership with divisions, departments, offices, and schools to determine marketing goals, create effective strategies, implement tactics, and measure success. The Vice President is the primary contact with external agencies, research companies, and consultants engaged by the University for assistance in marketing initiatives. She or he is also the first point of contact for news outlets and constituents with questions for the University while also managing the dissemination of key internal messages across multiple perspectives and stakeholders.

The Vice President for Communications and Marketing reports directly to the President, is a valued member of the President's Cabinet, and works closely with leadership and colleagues across the University.

The Vice President for Communications and Marketing must be a strategic thinker as well as a media-savvy, high-energy individual with a proven track record of leading the design and execution of an innovative, proactive, and effective communications program that advanced an institution's brand or position in the marketplace. The Vice President must be committed to the mission of the University, embrace its values, and be dedicated to the pursuit of excellence locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally.
