Visiting Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry

The ACS-accredited Department of Chemistry at The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, is now accepting applications for a non-tenure track, full-time position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor in Organic Chemistry to begin August 14, 2017.  The initial appointment will be for one year with a possibility of subsequent renewal for up to two additional years.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach organic chemistry in a newly renovated modern organic chemistry laboratory.  They will also teach 100-level courses and have the opportunity to develop and teach advanced courses.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach three courses per semester during the first year, receive faculty mentorship, and dedicate time for research with undergraduate students.

 Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication, and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
