Howard University invites applications for the position of Dean of the School of Divinity. Since its founding in 1867, Howard has been open to men and women from all racial and ethnic groups. As one of the University's 13 Schools and Colleges, Howard University School of Divinity (HUSD) enrolls students from diverse backgrounds in pursuit of their Master of Arts in Religious Studies, Master of Divinity, or Doctor of Ministry degrees. The School offers an unparalleled educational experience that not only reflects the African-American cultural and religious tradition, but also the foundation of excellence promoted throughout Howard's history and the unique opportunity afforded by its location in the nation's capital. Qualifications: Howard University seeks a dedicated academic and seasoned administrative leader to carry forward the esteemed history of the School of Divinity. The new Dean will be a recognized scholar, an experienced and politically adept administrator, a passionate advocate for the ongoing mission of the School of Divinity, and a committed proponent of inclusion and diversity. The Dean will serve as the primary representative of the School to the University and the community, will coordinate academic and advancement activities within the School, and participate in University-wide planning and management activities. The Dean will optimize School instructional programs and seek interdisciplinary, cross-unit, and cross-campus opportunities to meet emerging needs. The Dean will pursue fundraising opportunities and direct the development of internal and external partnerships to support the School's programs and services.

Location: Howard University’s main campus is located in Washington, DC, within five miles of the United States Capitol. Howard has grown from a single-frame building in 1867 to more than 256 acres, which consists of Howard’s main campus, 400-bed Howard University Hospital, its East and West campuses, and includes a 108-acre research facility in Beltsville, Maryland. The School of Divinity is located on the West Campus, in Holy Cross Hall.
