Instructional Designer

UNCG Online at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking a highly innovative professional to help create interactive online courses in diverse subjects for the university. The position will be a temporary 12-month assignment with an option to extend if funding is available.

The successful candidate must understand principles of adult learning, curriculum design, assessment, and the tools for measuring the effectiveness of implemented methods; recognize how design can influence and enhance learning; have a passion for learning; be able to think visually; write and communicate clearly and succinctly; create interactive learning materials such as case studies, simulations and educational games; demonstrate strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills; collaborate with faculty, academic support staff, and others, and work closely with teams to develop effective learning strategies that promote student success; interact with internal and external clients; take initiative on projects; visualize abstract and concrete concepts both critically and creatively.

Proficiency in WordPress and Google Apps or Microsoft Office is essential. Familiarity with course management systems (e.g., Canvas), knowledge of Web authoring tools, Web development skills (e.g., HTML and CSS) and an awareness of Web-based tools and social media applications would be beneficial. Experience with project management software such as Wrike, Basecamp, or Microsoft Project is preferred.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience. A resume and cover letter is required and should be an accurate reflection of your work and educational history. If possible, include a link to an online portfolio.
