Senior Vice President of Development

 

The University of Cincinnati, a comprehensive, public research university with an enrollment of more than 43,000 students, seeks a dynamic advancement leader to serve as its Senior Vice President for Development (SVP), University of Cincinnati Foundation (UCF).

 

Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, the University garners nearly $500 million per annum in research funding, ranking 22nd among public universities in the US. The school offers over 100 bachelor degrees, over 300 degree granting programs, and over 600 total programs of study, ranging from certificates to doctoral and first professional education. With an economic impact of over $3.5 billion per year, it is the largest single employer in Greater Cincinnati.

 

The Senior Vice President will be responsible for planning and directing all aspects of fundraising and capital development initiatives for the University of Cincinnati (UC), UC Health (UCH) and the Academic Health Center (AHC). The SVP will report and work closely with Rod Grabowski, President of the UC Foundation, to expand the number of actively engaged advancement volunteers and build the pipeline of future donors for UC, UCH and AHC.

 

The Senior Vice President will lead the comprehensive development team, including a high quality and productive staff of 82 with a budget of $10.8 million, and will serve on the foundation senior management team. The Senior Vice President will also work closely with key faculty, clinicians, administrators, department chairs, and volunteers and will provide strong leadership of staff for university and medical center philanthropy.

 

The candidate will ensure that the development officers are efficiently, effectively, and productively engaging in their fundraising work, assuring that prospects are effectively being cultivated, solicited and stewarded. Managerial experience and achieving progressively more responsible positions, exceptional communication and relationship-building skills are essential. The SVP will rely heavily on analytics, data, metrics, and best practices to develop and evaluate strategies.

 

The successful candidate will have a record of significant achievements in development, preferably within higher education, an academic medical institution or a highly complex, multidivisional institution. He or she will be a visionary with impressive strategic planning and campaign experience and will have a personal track record as a principal gift fundraiser and as a builder of successful development programs.
