President

Baylor University seeks a transformational and dynamic leader as President who will guide the University in pursuit of its mission to prepare men and women for worldwide leadership and service by integrating academic excellence and Christian commitment within a caring community. Baylor holds firm to the conviction that the world needs a preeminent research university that is unambiguously Christian, where such a commitment requires scholarship and creative endeavors at the highest levels to complement and inform its teaching and service.

A nationally ranked research institution located in Waco, Texas, Baylor is the world's largest Baptist university with more than 16,000 students from all 50 states and more than 80 countries. Baylor’s student experience is dynamic and diverse, coming to life through an ethnically and culturally diverse student body, local and global service opportunities, D1 Athletics, and extensive music and arts programs.  Before Texas was a state, Baylor was chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas and affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  The University’s success is built on Pro Futuris – its strategic vision – driven by the goals of transformational education, compelling scholarship, informed engagement, committed constituents, and judicious stewardship.

During the past ten years, the University has seen tremendous growth.  New programs have been established in undergraduate, graduate and professional studies.  New state-of-the-art facilities and living-learning centers have been recently completed.  It is Baylor’s commitment to the Christian faith combined with academic excellence in teaching and research that differentiates the University from other higher education institutions.  To further this distinction, steady growth in professional and service opportunities undergird the mission of the University.  Additional information on Baylor University and its mission is located on its website at www.baylor.edu.

Reporting to the Board of Regents as the Chief Executive Officer of Baylor University, the President collaborates with the Board members and a wide range of internal and external constituencies to provide visionary leadership and direction for Baylor’s future.  In consultation with the Board, the President oversees University policies, strategic direction and the overall financial condition of the University.  The President is responsible for leading the University in academics, research, student life, and civic engagement.  As the leading spokesperson of the University, the President interacts with faculty, staff, students, alumni, the Board of Regents, donors, the Waco community, and the public.  The President is actively engaged in promoting and advancing Baylor’s Christian educational mission and academic excellence, leading the University’s fundraising efforts and overseeing the human and financial resources to ensure fiscal soundness and accountability.
