Job Description Summary
Penn Engineering online is seeking a temporary Instructional Operations Coordinator to support course operational needs and facilitate the course staff hiring cycles.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the TA Recruitment process for the Penn Engineering Online team.

 

 

  • Develop TA targets for each course
  • Work with the faculty of over 15 courses to refine the targets, identify returning TAs, discuss interview process and preferences and finalize plans for their specific courses.
  • Manage TA recruitment including updating the website, advertising the opportunities to current students and holding TA interest webinars.
  • Manage the interview schedule for all positions and process the final hiring decisions.
  • Answer all questions from perspective TAs via email and zoom discussions.

 


Work with the Business Operations team to ensure all selected TAs are on payroll and are provided appropriate equipment.

 

 

  • Liaise with the Business Operations Associate Director and Coordinator weekly to ensure a smooth payroll and onboarding process
  • Maintain a shared spreadsheet and update daily
  • Manage the lending and returning of physical equipment (e.g., tablets)
  • Troubleshoot hiring issues

 


Manage the TA Training and Nurturing Process

 

 

  • Serve as the owner of the TA training program. Ensure all TAs are fully trained by the start of the semester and provide follow-up training throughout the semester
  • Create a sense of community through TA events, awards, swag and other incentives.

 


Provide support to the Assistant Director and Director on special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to handle multiple tasks/projects at once and keep track of outstanding issues
  • Excellent communication skills and professional presence
  • Comfortable with frequently-changing office demands
  • Experience in higher education/STEM Education is strongly preferred
