Job Description Summary
This PM - A position manages day to day operations for innovative behavioral research projects within the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics. This position will work on Global Health projects led by Dr. Harsha Thirumurthy focused on using behavioral economics insights to promote various health behaviors related to HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases.

Responsibilities include regular communication with domestic and international research partners, study implementation, protocol oversight, IRB correspondences and regulatory requirements, tracking and management of study data, and tracking and management of study budgets. This position requires travel to study site (overseas) when travel is permitted again following the termination of COVID-19 travel restrictions. Travel may include the potential for extended stays ranging from 2 weeks to 3 months.

Job Description

The Project Manager A will be responsible for working with researchers at the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics at the University of Pennsylvania as they develop new research projects that apply insights from behavioral economics to improve health outcomes and increase health-promoting behaviors in low- and middle-income countries.

This position will be part of the Center's Global Health research team led by Dr. Harsha Thirumurthy. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who have training in economics and other behavioral sciences, strong quantitative skills, as well as experience working on research projects in low- and middle-income countries.

The Project Manager A will be responsible for the following: developing study protocols and procedures, supporting local research staff and communicating regularly with study team members, overseeing recruitment and data collection activities, tracking and management of study data, and tracking and managing the study budget.

The selected candidate will work closely with the Senior Project Manager and other members of the study team to plan and implement study procedures, engage external partners, and report study progress internally and to study sponsors. The Project Manager A will be responsible for IRB submissions and correspondence and must follow good clinical practices for conducting human subjects research.

This position requires travel to study site (overseas) when travel is permitted again following the lifting of COVID-19 travel restrictions. Travel will likely be to Kenya and South Africa, with the potential for travel to other countries as well. Travel durations of 2 weeks or longer will be expected. Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2021. Full consideration will be given to all applications received by that date. This position will be overseen and supported by the PM - B and PI. The PM-B will support the PM-A in the following areas (list no exhaustive): budget management, regulatory tracking, study implementation and technical advice. The PM-A will have weekly meetings with the PM-B/PI.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

This position is contingent upon grant funding.
