Job Description Summary
The program coordinator for the Wharton Neuroscience Initiative is a multi-function position providing operational, programmatic, and marketing and communications support for the Center and its Director. Responsibilities include strategic management of the Director's complex multi-school research, teaching, and administrative schedule; financial accounting and planning of the Director's travel and expenditures; developing communications content for the Center's programs, newsletters, website and social media sites; managing work-study students; providing all events planning and coordination for the Center's seminars, conferences, meetings, facility tours, special events, and educational programs; serving as the liaison for students and the Center's educational programs, including coordination with faculty, the marketing department's course coordinator, and the School's courseware team for the Center's relevant courses; serving as a liaison for communications and event management for the Center with external affairs, executive education, and the Center's Friends (donors) & Partners, as well as overall operational tasks for the Center.

Job Description

Work closely with the Director to strategically oversee and manage his complex schedule and research, teaching, administrative, and public outreach activities. Provide complex inter school management and coordination of expenditures and research projects driven by the Center's industry-prompted research, as well as the Director's federally-sponsored and foundation-sponsored research. This includes coordination of large numbers of students, staff, post-doctoral fellows and faculty, as well as coordination with the Wharton Behavior Lab; knowledge of diverse school policies and procedures; communication and coordination with upper-level financial and research administrators, as well as the University Institutional Review Board.

Implement creative and diversified communications materials and dissemination strategies for both print and digital public relations materials for the Center, including creating and writing the Center's monthly electronic newsletter, creating promotional materials for Center events and programs, creating content for the Center's social media sites and website. This requires independent and unilateral judgment about the schedule, budgetary decisions, institutional policies, resources, and the Center's overall communications needs.

Manage faculty and client (both corporate and external partner) relationships and stewardship during development and through research collaborations, including follow-up initiatives. Requires maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders of the Center.

Coordination and responsibility for a broad and growing portfolio of educational programs. Creating and administrating informal educational programs and allied events for students (undergrad, MBA, summer scholars and internships program), alumni engagement and educational programs.

Assist with the daily operations of the Center. Work closely with the departmental fiscal coordinator and business administrator to reconcile Center expense transactions, generate purchase orders for vendors, and assist with management of financial aspects of special events. Coordinate all event logistics. Communicate and coordinate with External Affairs, the Center's Corporate Partners, Executive Education, donors, and other specific requests and needs from other partners and stakeholders. Supervise student workers and manage work schedules. Serve as the day-to-day contact regarding office related matters.
