Job Description Summary
Under the supervision of the Art Director in the Marketing & Communications Department, the Graphic Designer develops strategically driven, brand-compliant, creative collateral for all areas of the Penn Museum. Projects include digital materials for the website, marketing campaigns, social media, emails, ads, and animated promos. They also design a variety of print materials including flyers, brochures, event programs, invitations, sections of Expedition magazine, banners, and outdoor graphics.

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Art Director in the Marketing & Communications Department, the Graphic Designer develops strategically-driven, brand-compliant, creative collateral for all areas of the Penn Museum. Projects include digital materials for the website, marketing campaigns, social media, emails, ads, and animated promos. They also design a variety of print materials including flyers, brochures, event programs, invitations, sections of Expedition magazine, banners, and outdoor graphics.

The person in this role also supports Marketing & Communications needs with occasional onsite photography and is responsible for the digital asset management of an image database. They also assist with maintaining the Museum's on-site wayfinding system. The ideal candidate incoporates DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) principles into communicating the Museum, ensuring that the institution's visual language reflects and engages audiences of diverse backgrounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required skills

 

 

  • Associates Degree in digital design, graphic design, or a related field required
  • At least 2 years of design and production experience for digital and print
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software on a Mac platform, specifically Indesign, Photoshop, Spark, and After Effects
  • Basic video editing skills for designing and producing short digital promotions
  • Ability to work within established brand guidelines and maintain design consistency across media platforms
  • Basic photography skills including familiarity using a DSLR camera and image editing experience
  • Candidate must be organized and detail-oriented with an ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple projects at once.
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively with others as part of a team.

 


Preferred Skills

 

 

  • BFA/BA preferred in digital design, graphic design, or a related field
  • Strong asset management and organization skills for file management
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive design, and web accessability
  • Working knowledge of print and digital production processes and optimizing final files for delivery
  • Project and vendor management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
