President

The Presidential Search Committee of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) invites applications, expressions of interest, and nominations of candidates in its search for the University’s next President. The search was launched in response to President Diane Melby’s decision to retire in July 2022, following a celebrated six-year tenure. In her successor, OLLU seeks a community-oriented leader with great vision and the capacity to enhance the University’s profile and key strategic indicators.

This private, Catholic, Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) with a total enrollment of approximately 2,700 educates traditional and non-traditional students through small classes, innovative instruction and rigorous coursework. For much of its history, OLLU was defined by its San Antonio campus, and retained the character of a locally focused institution. Today, the University embraces a broader mission that supports student learning in multiple contexts. The University offers traditional liberal arts and sciences, education, counseling psychology, communication disorders, counseling, social work, leadership studies, cybersecurity, and business via undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. Anchored by a San Antonio home base, the institution’s reach has extended into locations in Houston, the Rio Grande Valley (La Feria) and beyond to more than 40 states via online degree programs. This growth is indicative of an institution that is on the move and responsive to evolving enrollment trends yet steadfast in its commitment to offer a fine education grounded in core values.

Our Lady of the Lake University seeks a President who embraces its distinctive mission and core values, embodies a bold spirit, possesses significant administrative experience, and can attract new resources to the University. The next President will address the following opportunities and challenges: elevating OLLU’s recognition; enhancing fundraising; strategically addressing needs and growing opportunities by generating new resources; leading organizational and structural change; enhancing enrollment strategies and student retention; and cultivating diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion while championing social justice.

The candidate of choice will be a servant leader in the Catholic tradition with a highly relational approach, outstanding communication skills, humility, authenticity, self-confidence, a strong work ethic, and a clear understanding of higher education. While the Presidential Search Committee is eager to consider many possible pathways to the OLLU presidency, candidates possessing a terminal degree will be preferred.
