The Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of yeast genetics, protein biochemistry, cell culture techniques, molecular biology, platinum-replica electron microscopy, and quantitative live-cell imaging. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Responsibilities may include investigation of the architecture and function of the contractile actomyosin ring in eukaryotic cytokinesis using both yeast and mammalian cell models and an integrative experimental approach involving molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and gene editing.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to further develop critical thinking skills, familiarize with related literature and experimental techniques, prepare manuscript and grant preparation, present research findings in national and international meetings, mentor junior scientists, and participate in career training offered by the University.
