NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks a strategic and innovative Vice President for Institutional Research and Decision Support. The Vice President oversees the Office of Institutional Research and will be joining Rutgers at an exciting time when new leadership and fresh ideas and perspectives are helping re-define institutional goals, strategies, and a broader vision for Rutgers as a leading public research university. University leadership, along with other campus stakeholders, will look to the Vice President and their team to play an integral role in shaping major initiatives and strategic planning with accurate data and state-of-the-art analytics.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a world-class public research institution as it seeks to build upon its current capacities in institutional research (IR). As the successful incumbent Vice President retires after 28 years in the role, the University is seeking a leader who thinks broadly about institutional effectiveness, data governance, how IR should interface with other University functions and offices, and how it can most effectively support the academic enterprise and student success.   The Vice President will lead the effort to further the culture of data-informed decision-making and planning, integrate IR more closely with the University’s schools, centers, and institutes, and supercharge efforts to be strategic, proactive, and analytical in serving Rutgers’ mission and its many and varied constituencies.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs (EVPAA), and working in close collaboration with the Senior Vice President for Strategy and his team, the Vice President will provide leadership and oversight to the key areas of institutional research, analysis, reporting, and effectiveness; academic planning and program review; assessment; accreditation; data-centric decision support and analytics; and policy development.

The ideal candidate will bring superb analytical skills and a sophisticated understanding of effective, rigorous institutional research and decision support in the context of current higher education imperatives. They will have a demonstrated track record of program assessment and data management and analytics, as well as a collaborative leadership style and the capacity to work and communicate effectively in a complex institution with multiple stakeholders with diverse perspectives. The Vice President will be an intellectually-curious leader who builds strong relationships. They will be a critical partner to the Office of University Strategy in providing analysis to inform major university initiatives and developing a practice of institutional effectiveness.
