Visiting Assistant Professor of Wildlife and Conservation Biology

Summary of Position    

The Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of New Hampshire seeks a dynamic, engaged educator and scholar to serve as Visiting Assistant Professor in Wildlife and Conservation Biology for a three-year, term-limited position. The successful candidate will have demonstrated teaching and research experience, a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, and will bring expertise in the ecology of terrestrial vertebrates, including their population ecology and habitat selection, use, and management. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate an ability to advance the diversity, equity, and inclusivity goals of the institution, and have experience mentoring at the undergraduate level. Teaching duties of the position will include a field-based course in the Wildlife Habitats of the northeastern U.S. in the first semester and Wildlife Population Ecology in the second semester of the first year, with the addition of Environmental Biology as a third course starting in the second year. Accordingly, the successful candidate will have the ability to effectively deliver courses with both field and computer-based labs in the first year. The successful candidate will also advise undergraduate students, engage in Departmental and program governance; conduct research within the scholar’s areas of expertise, and engage in other outreach or scholarly activities as appropriate. Preference will be given to candidates whose taxonomic and research foci complement those of existing faculty in the department and college.

-PhD in Wildlife Ecology or related field

-Demonstrated experience in teaching and scholarship

-Postdoctoral experience

-Prior field based instruction

-Experience as instructor of record at the university level

-Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
