California State University-Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), a Hispanic and Minority-Serving Institution, invites applications and nominations for the inaugural role of Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.

Centrally located in the South Bay and the heart of Los Angeles, CSUDH is a diverse, welcoming community of learners and educators collaborating to change lives and communities for the better. Established in 1960, CSUDH is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system.

CSUDH seeks a transformative leader to join with the President and Cabinet in helping the institution realize the full measure of its promise and possibility in the realm of an authentically diverse and inclusive campus. Under the administrative direction of President Thomas A. Parham, the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer (CDEIO) will provide intellectual and pragmatic leadership for the CSUDH campus. With a direct report to the President and as a member of the Cabinet, the CDEIO will oversee the Office of Equity and Inclusion which will include Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation and Title IX.

The CDEIO, in consultation and collaboration with the President and other senior academic and administrative leaders, determines the overall direction of all diversity-oriented programs and initiatives and will work with existing programs and initiatives, including those championed by the cultural resource centers in the Division of Student Affairs. As a university leader, the CDEIO maintains strong collaborative working relationships among senior executives, faculty, including academic deans, staff, students and external constituents and serves as a team builder.

The CDEIO will lead efforts to develop and implement a strategic plan for diversity and inclusion aligned with the university’s strategic plan; shape campus policies around equity and inclusion; develop methods and infrastructure for data collection and communication around equity, diversity and inclusion efforts; develop recruitment and retention programs for diverse faculty and staff; and foster community partnerships.

A strategic and innovative leader, the successful candidate will have a track record of accomplishments in leading institutional initiatives, building programs, managing high performing teams, and promoting diversity in a complex organizational setting. A minimum of eight years of successful and progressive experience in a leadership and supervisory role directly related to diversity, inclusion, and equity is required. A doctorate or equivalent terminal degree and experience in a collective bargaining environment are preferred. Additional information about CSUDH can be found at www.csudh.edu.
