Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management

Augustana University, a selective, comprehensive university affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, seeks an Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVPEM) to help achieve the ambitious goals outlined in Viking Bold: The Journey to 2030, the strategic plan which serves as the roadmap to Augustana’s exciting and successful future.

Located in the growing and vibrant city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Augustana University has, for more than 160 years, provided a strong student-centric education based on its five core values: Christian faith, liberal arts, excellence, community, and service. The institution continues to expand its pre-professional and graduate offerings, while remaining true to its liberal arts tradition. Guided by the Viking Bold: Journey to 2030 strategic plan, Augustana seeks to grow its enrollment from just over 1,900 students to more than 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

An essential partner and strategic advisor in advancing the university’s strategic priorities and mission, the AVPEM will report to Chief Financial Officer & Executive Vice President Shannan Nelson. The AVPEM will provide strategic, analytically-informed, and creative leadership to a dedicated team while seeking to greatly extend Augustana's reach to both undergraduate and graduate students regionally and across the nation. In doing so, the AVPEM will engage, represent, and champion the university’s enduring mission and core values which empower students through an unwavering commitment to the liberal arts, to discern their callings, to be generous servant leaders, and to achieve success throughout their careers and in life. Of significance, the AVPEM will serve as a strong and proactive institutional partner, particularly with academics, in order to realize Augustana's enrollment goals.

The university seeks an enrollment professional with an established record of achievement in moving enrollment to greater levels of success. The AVPEM must bring a spirit of collaboration, transparency, creativity, nimbleness, and fiscal responsibility. Exceptional analytical and technological skills will be critical, as well as the ability to understand and respect shared governance.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are critical to the Augustana community, and the university seeks to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool. The AVPEM will be an advocate for diversity with a proven record of and commitment to increasing educational access for traditionally marginalized populations. In addition, the AVPEM will convey the willingness to commit to best practices, student success, and community engagement.
