Nevada State College seeks a new president with a forward-thinking mindset, extraordinary positive energy, exceptional vision, and long-term commitment. Moreover, the College desires a strong and experienced leader who can cultivate an environment that effectively leverages the College's exceptional faculty and staff's talents and the College’s singular spirit of inclusion to complete current initiatives and continue Nevada State’s tradition of innovation. The successful candidate: 1) will have an earned doctorate, other terminal degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 2) possesses a record of scholarship or professional experience in higher education (preferred), business, nonprofit organization, or government; 3) has senior level administrative leadership experience in higher education (preferred) or other professional setting; and 4) will be a person of high integrity who will strengthen the mission, enrich the student experience, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence. Furthermore, candidates should have a demonstrated track record of organizational leadership with strong attention to diversity, equity and inclusion, mutual respect, and shared governance. Nevada State was established in 2002 as a new tier in the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) between the research universities and the two-year colleges. Nevada State, classified as a “baccalaureate college: diverse fields” by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, is a comprehensive college that offers baccalaureate degrees with more than 45 majors and minors in the School of Education, the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the School of Nursing. One of the fastest growing colleges in the country (5,500 degree seeking students with a total 7,200 enrolled), Nevada State is a comprehensive four-year Minority Serving public institution with a statewide mission.

Located just 15 miles from the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, Nevada State has a 512-acre site in Henderson, Nevada, a city consistently ranked as one of the best places to live. The City of Henderson is nestled among three of the most distinguished human-made attractions – the famous “Strip,” Hoover Dam, and the tranquil beauty of Lake Mead. As the second-largest city in Nevada with a population over 340,000, it is most recognized for its amazing trails, parks, and communities.

All candidate names will remain confidential until finalists are presented to the search committee during the latter stages of the search. At that point, Nevada’s Open Meeting Laws will apply.
