Assistant Professor of GIS

The Department of Economics and Geosciences at the United States Air Force Academy is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor of GIS.  All are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to candidates who also have the ability and expertise to teach Physical Geography and/or Environmental Science. Appointment begins approximately June 21, 2021, with an annual salary of $99,506.  Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. 

 

Requirements

Responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate courses in Geographic Information Science (GIS), physical geography and/or environmental science and other courses in the program as needed; academic advising; serving as a faculty mentor for undergraduate research; serving on departmental and academy committees; and maintaining a record of research commensurate with academic rank. Candidates must have earned a Doctoral degree in Geography or a related field, or letter of completion by June 21, 2021. 

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to provide excellent instruction and mentorship at the undergraduate level, and interface with program strengths in human geography, physical geography, GIS, and remote sensing.
